The Stamford Academy Spartan football program launched its first independent season in 2010 after previously co-oping with Wright Tech. Head Coach Craig Baker led the team to an incredible 5-2 season gaining the respect of teams across the state. The season was highlighted by a thrilling over time victory at Wilcox Tech in Meridan.
The Spartans struggled through a tough season this year but never gave up. Facing the challenge of losing 8 seniors to graduation and the head coach, the team literally traveled the entire state to play teams with often 40 more players. Highlights included QB Shyquinn Dix who led the team through the trying season, and the play of the offensive line with seniors Rashad Alexander, Joel Jackson, and Bryan Hunter carrying the weight.
The Spartan Football team has accepted an offer to play in the Hudson Valley Football League this coming fall! The Spartans will compete against 5 other small schools in the tri-state area. The league will be complete with 1st and 2nd All Division Teams and give the team a chance to play for the League Championship or one of two Bowl Games. Stay tuned for the 2012 schedule and roster!
